Here’s are some of the pictures I took at the Recoleta Cemetery in lovely Buenos Aires, Argentina, one of my favorite places. You wouldn’t think a cemetery would be a tourist attraction, but in it’s macabre grayness there is a peaceful beauty.
Mausoleums abound of the wealthy families of the port city and you can see the surprising intersection of Catholic and Jewish, Italian, German, and Spanish, older and new. Sometimes all in the same family’s tribute. One of the more famous residents of Recoleta is Eva Peron, whose marble crypt several people crowded around and left flowers.
If you do get the opportunity to tour Buenos Aires, Recoleta is a lovely neighborhood and a tour through here is a must!
P.S. This is the first ‘video’ (more of a slideshow) I have actually made and uploaded to YouTube. Any comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated! If you are interested in any of the individual shots, just let me know.
