Sunday Times

Here’s a roundup of stories I’ve been paying attention to:

Water.  It’s all about access to it, who owns it, how to get it, and how much of it is used.    Water is the most important resource on the planet.  From AlertNet, a story about water security.

China and Russia are once again on the center stage.  Britain has been the first to publicly pledge approximately $70 million to the fund to support Afghan security forces post-2014 withdrawal.  NATO is now calling on Russia and China to chip in to the effort as well.  It will be interesting to see what the US does next month at the NATO meeting.  How will pledging hundreds of millions of dollars for the future effect the upcoming Presidential election?

France is having election too.  Will Sarkozy win once again?  How will the outcome play into France’s role in the Euro crisis since Sarkozy and Merkel have been working together so closely?

I wrote a bit about Syria in an article a few weeks ago, it looks like the ‘agreement’ which al Assad and Annan came to, was really just a farce.  Nothing surprising, but still sad for the people of Syria.
